TG2 Status Update - Mar 21, 2011

This is going to be the shortest one I've ever sent, and hopefully ever will
send.

*What Got Done?*
I got logged into beta.turbogears.org, and got to look around a bit. I also
got the reply from Google Summer of Code, and we were turned down. This just
makes me want to get TG the strength it needs to again be accepted. So, I've
got one year (more or less) to work with everybody and get 2.2 out the door.

*The rest?*
That's really it. We're in the same position we were for the last status
report a week ago. Well, unless others have worked on TG2. I have not. As
for why?

Today, at work, was the first day for our replacement point of sale system.
In the week long run up to deployment, I wound up tackling issue after issue
that kept coming up at the last second. The end result is that, since 0700
EST Mon, Mar 14, 2011 (with it now being 2130 Mar 21, 2011), I have put in
80 hours at work. If you add in my drive time, then I'm up to 96 hours spent
driving to work, driving from work, or doing actual work. It's been killer
busy for me. I expect tomorrow to be a slightly long day, and the day after
to be mostly normal.

This week I'll be getting back to work on TG. Just not tonight. I had 3
hours of sleep last night, and it's time for bed.

Hi Michael, thanks for the update. Even when nothing (or nearly
nothing) happened, the update is still appreciated.

Good luck with the work/sleep stuff :)

Same for TG1. http://sourceforge.net/p/turbogears1/tickets/ still does
not show up the tickets I've entered 2 weeks ago.

That should be fixed now. Rabbitmq failures at the time of the ticket
entry meant they were in mongo but not solr.

New updates to allura should mean this will never happen again.

That's bad :/
I would suggest setting up "our own summer of code" by deciding a set
of targets to achieve during this summer.

The framework itself needs mainly a set of bugfixes as the main
features are already there.
Probably what we need is mainly a set of tools (tgexts?) that people
can use to quickly create their own applications
instead of reinventing the wheel each time. That would probably expand
the TG usage.
The list written for the GSOC is already a good one.

I started to take a look at the tickets, but I'm really busy with work
right now. I think I'll try to solve at least one ticket during this
weekend.
